Before you call
I have a hearing soon. Is it too late to hire a lawyer?
Not necessarily. The firm regularly substitutes into cases already in progress. The sooner you call, the more options remain, including requesting more time to prepare.
Can you represent me if my case is outside California?
Yes. Immigration court is federal, and the firm represents clients in immigration courts and federal courts across the United States, often appearing by video.
My family member was just detained. What should I do?
Call the office right away with the person's full name, date of birth, country of birth, and the facility where they are held if you know it. Bond hearings and habeas petitions both depend on acting quickly.
I lost in immigration court. Can the decision be appealed?
Usually, yes. An appeal to the Board of Immigration Appeals must be filed within 30 days of the decision. After the Board, a petition for review can be filed in the federal court of appeals.
Do I need to come to the office?
No. Initial consultations are held by Zoom video call. You only need a phone or computer with a camera. If you prefer to meet in person, let us know when you book.
How are fees set?
Fees depend on the type of case and the stage it is in. You will receive a written agreement describing the scope of representation and the fee before any work begins.
